Yesterday we competed at the HP labs in Bristol in the Southwest Regionals to see who from the region would be sent to the National Finals at Loughborough University. The presentation of our World Class project went very well, and the judges seemed quite impressed with it. Before I talk about the robot, I will explain who the robotics competition works. It starts with three rounds, with each team running there robot three times. Then, the highest score of each of the three runs dictates the top six teams. Those six teams progress onto the Quarter-finals. After that, the highest four teams run in the Semi-finals. In the Finals, the top two teams from the Semi-finals run twice, switching tables in between. The highest score from both runs dictates the winner.
Hello again!

Today we spent all our time learning how to change missions quickly and making display boards. We are getting excited as the competition is on Wednesday.
Peter H Team member Hello again,
Yesterday, we worked on our presentation and the robot. The presentation is coming on well, and we will be practicing more in our last two sessions. The robot is still being worked on, but it's accuracy is improving. We have the possibility of 5 missions in total. Our regional competition is at the HP laps in Bristol on the 26th of November, so there is a lot of excitement in the build-up. Matthew Team Leader Today, we continued on the robot, which is nearly there. Matthew and Peter continued on Missions 1 & 2. Joseph, Charlie and Peter H worked on Mission 3. On our project we ran through our presentation, as we are going to present our project to a group on Tuesday.
Peter D and Samuel M-B Team members Yesterday, we made lots of progress with the programming. Matthew and I finished off Frame 1 and continued programming Mission 1. Charlie and Joseph started Frame 3 whilst I did a bit of that programming on Mission 3 towards the end. Sam B and later Peter D worked on the website whilst Zach and Peter D finished Frame 2 and started programming it. There will be some pictures of the day soon.
Peter H Team member Today, Charlie and Joseph started to write the script for the FLL presentation, and Peter H finished frame #1. Peter D and Samuel M-B worked on frame #2, and Sam B, Zak and Mathew continued programing for mission one. Below are some pictures of our day... Charlie and Joseph Team members Today we carried on the robot. Our team leader Mathew finished the robot mid week so today we started to work on the frames that will go over the top of the robot to complete all the missions. Afterwards we started programming, and made some progress with the mission course. Joseph and Charlie Team members Hello again,
Today we started building the robot, and continued on the project. In the morning, we collected the information for the project that we had researched. Then we delegated jobs to everybody to do before our next meeting. After lunch we started on the robot, and by the end of the day we had about 2/3 of our robot compete. See you next Thursday, Peter D Team member Hello again. This week we handed in our homework on internet safety. Before we came out leader, Matthew, and his brother Peter D had already made put the mat on the table. Our task for today was to build all of the missions. We split up into 4 teams of 2; Sam & Zach, Charlie & Joseph, Matthew & Peter D, Peter H & Sam M-B. Each team had 1 mission done by lunch after that there were 3 missions left. Matthew and Peter D put the rest of the missions on the mat and oversaw what the other teams were doing. Here are some pictures from today! Hope you enjoyed reading. Joseph, Charlie, and Zach Team members The Mat and the Lego arrived today. It's annoying that it didn't arrive yesterday. We can't wait until the next session to start building the mat and thinking about the robot.
