Merry Christmas!

Today four of our members, John Saddler, John Hargreaves, Peter Hargreaves, and Samuel Morse-Brown, got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to the Wessex Water labs to test out a centrifugal separator with microfibre contaminated water. We also talked to Kevin O’Reilly, a Senior Scientist, and received helpful feed back from him. The tests with the centrifuge were very successful, and we discovered that the microfibres were best separated at 3000 RPM for 2 minutes (or just enough to power up and down), removing 98 percent of them. This is the last Tech HEds gathering until the 4th of January. The Hargreaves's Dad gave us a lift. Merry Christmas! Sam Team Member

This is our last meeting in 2017 (apart from the trip to a Wessex Water lab next week to see and conduct tests with an hydro cyclone). We practised our presentation and we each presented and discussed our homework. Then we ate LUNCH!! After that,
John H, Team Member Over the last week, we have started looking through the script. We have made several improvements to it. In the morning we practiced the presentation an discussed the homework we have done over the past week. After lunch,
John H Tean Member It was a busy day today, as we are are trying to pull everything together before Christmas and the Wessex Regionals! First, we went to to Samuel and Gabriel’s house, where we tested our idea for a bubble wall, it didn’t go quite to plan. The bubbles were taken to the water surface as planned but then were pulled back down and then back up again in a cycle. It was a good experiment, though, and we learned a lot. Sandra, our coach, then drove us to her house where we presented and distributed homework, and had lunch. Then everybody (except John S, who worked on the Project Presentation) worked on their mission trips. Samuel and I have now finished our mission trip.
