Team member!
This week John H (as well as Aram and Jacob) were away and so we were three members down. And so, owing to that fact, we focused on robot for most of the day. In the morning, we started off by sorting out who would be working with who, concerning the robot, and we decided, since one member from each robot-team was away, that Annie, Elsie, Josh and Louis would work together to try and rebuild team 2’s faulty frame (more on that later). This didn’t quite work, because Louis prefers, generally, to work alone (like Sam, really); so, while Louis went and did his programming session with Sandra, the rest of the younger members continued work on the frame. At lunch, since we couldn’t play football because of bad weather, we sat and played Dobble and Lego for a while. Mrs. E (Josh’s mum) had also brought Percy-pigs and doughnuts for us all to share! YUMMY!! After lunch, when Elsie and Josh went to do programming (with Sandra), Annie and Louis worked on team 2’s robot frame for the rest of the afternoon. Now where was Sam all this time? Well, he was programming for team 1’s robot mission-trip, for the whole day! WHEW!

This week as Jacob and Aram were away we tried to limit ourselves to 30 minutes of project talk. We sat down and started by checking if there were any more ideas for and solution but unfortunately we only had one or two more new suggestions other than some we had last week. We were also trying to digest what the architect, Richard, had told us the week before.
We had decided the week before that for the next two weeks we would be doing the robot game because Jacob and Aram were away and John, the project leader and project chair, is away next week as well. As we started the robot the two member that were there from Team 2 realized that they had misinterpreted the way that one of the missions was built so they unfortunately had to start rebuilding their frame which they will be continuing next week. However going from the bad side of things to the good, Sam and Annie in Team 1 were able to start programming. Team 2 (with all its members) was able to continue in their work and did very well. Over all we are really happy with our work and are looking forward to completing more on Thursday next week. We are also looking forward to the competition so with a bit more work (well, a LOT really) we will be ready for it. Robot Game bring it on!! Annie Team Member Another productive and exciting week was presented at the Tech HEds table! We sat down in the morning at about 10:30 a.m., and shared and discussed the information we’d found whilst doing our research during the week. Ideas were bounced around about ways in which we could improve the building that we have chosen for our project. It was decided that we should wait for the Architect from Elkins, Chippenham, to come and give his views on the project before we make any decisions. We then built Lego for 20 minutes and went and had lunch.
After our usual game of football, we regrouped back at Mrs. Dymond's house and did some more work on the robot. Annie and Aram rebuilt the jig that is going to help position the robot whilst on the table; meanwhile, Team 2 – Jacob, Louis and Elsie, and Team 3 – John H and Josh, began to program their robots. Sam, on the other hand, wrestled with a design for a moving lift which is going to be on the back of Bumblebee – our main Robot. At 2:30 p.m., Richard from Elkins came and gave us some advice on how they get around the problems that they face when designing and building houses, plus, things the we need to improve on. Unfortunately, Josh had to leave at this point, so he will be informed next week about what Richard said. Richard also stressed the importance of communication and gave us some examples of where things have not gone quite right because of a lack of it. Ultimately, we learned a lot, and decided that we need to put our “nose to the grindstone,” and get cracking on this project! Team member Aram Unfortunately Louis was unable to come today so we had to continue working without him. This morning during the project talk we voted on our project problem that we are going to propose a solution too. When we had finished talking about the project we went and had some lunch then went to play football. When we had finished playing football we came back and started working on our frames for the robot. Then we were split into two group one of which included Annie, Joshua, and Elsie who went to learn a bit more about programing in another room while the others continued work on the frames . After that, Joshua's mum's car battery went flat so we all had to get our shoes on, go outside, and push the car to see if we could get it started, but it didn't work, so we came back inside and put everything away.
